Inaugural Tomato Tasting

The Elk Grove Community Garden hosted its inaugural tomato tasting on Saturday. The event featured more than a dozen varieties of tomatoes and drew dozens to the garden to learn more about community gardening.

Was there a taste test winner?

It was not a ranked competition but there were a few favorites which I don't remember offhand. Most in attendance were like most tomato lovers who've never met a tomato they didn't like!

Sounds like you had a good turnout. Was it just tomato tasting? And if you do remember some of your favorites, I'd love to hear about them.

C.C.

Yes we just sampled tomatoes. I was impressed with how many varieties were represented. Favorites? Hmmm...that's like asking which one of my children I love best! I simply love anything red, juicy and vine ripened.

That's fair. My grandad used to say "I only like two kinds of pie; hot and cold". And you're right, vine ripened and juicy is best.
